If you find yourself here, that means you are in the business of finding someone to connect with that’s understanding, been in your shoes and can offer you guidance on how to grow your counseling business. Well, look no further, I have been in your shoes. I am Shamika Battle, LPC, CPCS and have been in this field for the last 20 years where I've worked and networked with many people.
I am a creative, and free thinker. This means I can think outside of the box and offer practical, yet extraordinary ideas and interventions. I've worked under many small business owners and learned from some of the best in this industry. I’ve had the ability to participate in strategy meetings and be a part of growing companies and schools.
I know personally that when you explore the counseling world on your own, it can be isolating and overwhelming. Trust me, I’ve been there. But I have also been able to partner with other professionals that held my hand and answered simple questions for me. This is the best part, and fortunately, this is the part that I love.
So, whether you have a question or two, or need something more structured, then you are in the right place. Let’s schedule a consultation (no charge to you), make sure we are a good fit and work on helping you build and grow your practice.

"Working with Mrs. Battle has been a pleasant experience. She holds space that allows for authenticity and helps cultivate my natural strengths. Her knowledge, experience and intelligence is displayed by her creativity to push me beyond my limitations and beliefs."
"I had the distinct pleasure of being under Shamika Battle-Packer's supervision while I was in the process of obtaining my LPC. During that time, Shamika served as a great resource in regard to my understanding of the different nuances when counseling individuals and families. As a seasoned clinician, she was very thorough in assisting me with effective ways to conceptualize my cases and implementing necessary interventions.
In addition, Shamika placed an importance on topics that are frequently ignored within therapeutic spaces, such as micro-aggressions in the workplace, the importance of working within our scope of expertise and most importantly discussions regarding burnout for therapists and the importance of self-care. I thoroughly valued my time in supervision with her and highly recommend her to all clinicians seeking to develop into informed and well-rounded clinicians."
"I have personally recommended Shamika to other colleagues for their own supervision. I have acquired several supervisors during my LAPC days and Shamika was very flexible and caring but maintained a professional standard that I greatly appreciated. She is always open for ideas and suggestions and often asked for input during staffing that allowed others to provide their input and provide other skills/interventions that one may have not thought of."
"I received excellent group supervision from Shamika for about 2 years, getting me across the finish line with my LPC. She is knowledgeable and compassionate, and she teaches valuable clinical concepts in an engaging and relatable way. She stayed on top of important documentation for licensure and provided extra support whenever needed to staff cases or provide resources when needed."
Supervision with Shamika was such a tremendous experience for me both personally and professionally. I spent almost two years with her as my supervisor and through our group sessions I was able to learn more and more about myself and gain new perspectives about the profession. She was a constant encouragement to me throughout every step of my application process for licensure and even paved the way for my first job as a therapist.
Personally, I feel like God really connected Shamika and I because our group supervision sessions became therapeutic for me. I really appreciated the structure of our sessions because she would build in time for open conversations while also having topics for us to focus on. Being able to discuss current political and societal events in session helped build more of a connection with my colleagues. The connection really made it easier to be more open and vulnerable in groups.
Professionally, our sessions were very helpful because we often discussed the things that aren't mentioned in grad school and post grad education. We would talk about the reality of the profession and the benefits and drawbacks of different types of counseling jobs. I really appreciated hearing from other colleagues in my group describe their journeys and it helped inform my own professional choices.
Lastly, Shamika provided a very comfortable space for people to learn and share and I will always appreciate the kindness and professionalism she would display. I could sense that she really had a passion for helping people new to the profession and that passion was displayed in everything she did in our sessions.
Shamika was an amazing supervisor. She provided amazing support in consulting about client cases. She would share her experiences in the field to help provide tips for interventions or areas to consider for further assessment. Her supervision style met my need to feel supported and comfortable to open up and share. This allowed me to benefit most from our personal and professional supervision. I highly recommend her as a supervisor for her style, competence, and support for those new to the field and building their skills.
Bibliotherapy is use of books in the therapeutic process to foster healing. When talking to kids especially, the use of books is very relatable and help describe experiences that they may otherwise find difficult discussing.
Everyone can relate to someone else who has a similar experience. It is sometimes easier to speak in 3rd person and discuss an event that happened to another person. Using books in therapy can be a beneficial way of communicating to a child who may otherwise find it difficult to talk.
Both books, Just Kick Rocks and When Daddy's Gone both deal with heavy topics that kids have a difficult time just talking about. They may not even have all of the words and it can be very frustrating. But reading a book about someone else's experiences helps kids to easily relate and discuss some of their situations. biblio-therapy therapy style
